Champions League soccer returns this week with the biggest matchup taking place at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid where Real Madrid face PSG. This game is probably the most important in the group with both teams all but through to the round of 16 clashing with the simple intention to win the group. This game happens only a few weeks after the two teams faced each other in an uneventful 0-0 draw in Paris.
Looking at the two teams, they are both filled with superstars and have been in tremendous form. They have both been winning for fun and the superstars are making a real statement. If there is a problem, it has to do with Real Madrid and their injuries. The likes of Bale, Rodrigues, and Benzema have been missing a lot of games and whether they will play this clash is still in double. Having said that, Real Madrid don’t lack in stars without them with Ronaldo, Modric, Kroos and Marcello playing really well. In addition to that, the replacement players such as Isco and Jese are very capable and have been making an impact themselves.

On the otherside of the coin, PSG have been at full force and smashing anyone who comes up against them in France. This team has incredible talent and making a dent in Europe is their main goal this season with French domestic titles all but locked up. The major issue that PSG will have will have to face will be the big jump in opposition quality since Real Madrid is in a different galaxy compared to their domestic opposition. Having said that, it is more than likely that Ibrahamovic, Cavani and co will deal with it well.
On paper both teams are pretty evenly matched but I think home ground advantage will play a big role in deciding the outcome. PSG failed to win at home but Real Madrid won’t. The Santiago Bernabeu has been a fortress for a long time and I think that they will win. As the odds go, Real Madrid are overwhelming favourites and I don’t think that there is any value in betting on them to win. The best pick for me is for both teams to score and Real Madrid to win. The combination bet in at 3.20 and that seems like the best value. Another betting option is to put money on Cristiano Ronaldo. He scores more times than he does not so this may have some vale. This being said, the game has terribly odds. Real Madrid are not as good as the odds dictate but I don’t have enough confidence to bet against them winning so I think simply watching this as spectator may be the best bet.
